Galactica Super Nova wins Best Naval Architecture – Displacement Motor Yacht award and Best Design Feature at the ShowBoats Design Awards 2017 in Kitzbühel
Devised by van Oossanen Naval Architects the Fast Displacement Hull Form of Galactica Super Nova has been thoroughly optimised using extensive CFD analysis that led to design a more stretched aft body, further improving efficiency.
The angle and position of the fin stabilisers were meticulously defined in order to have the maximum comfort effect with the least penalty in terms of speed. Humphrey interceptors complete the hull design ensuring comfortable, dynamic trim behaviour at all speeds.
The ultra efficient FDHF is perfectly complemented by Galactica Super Nova’s innovative propulsion system consisting of two wing engines and one central booster engine, with fixed-pitch propellers – a configuration installed for the first time on a superyacht.
With an acceleration from 0 to 30 knots in just 75 seconds, at 70m Galactica Super Nova is not only one of the 200 largest yachts in the world but also one of the fastest.
Heesen was the first shipyard to implement the revolutionary Fast Displacement Hull form into superyachts and today has five yachts sporting this hull form currently in construction.
Galactica Super Nova’s spiral staircase won the hearts of the jury for its mind-blowing design and perfect execution, which includes the elaborate light installation and seamless polished stainless steel trim that blends into the walls, stair treads, ceiling and floors.
Galactica Super Nova has won five international accolades so far.
Congratulations to van Oossanen Naval Architects for yet another ultra-efficient and high performance design and to Sinot for their achievement!
