We are delighted to announce that on February 8, 2018 at the shipyard in Oss, the hull and superstructure of Project Aster were joined together.
Project Aster is the latest yacht in the successful 5000 aluminium class whose exterior lines are designed by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. At 50 metres below 500GT, Aster perfectly combines space and performance. Her semi-displacement hull, built in-house by Heesen, coupled with two MTU diesel engines 16V 4000, will deliver a top speed of 23 knots and a range of 3,100 nautical miles at 11 knots.
Aster fully embodies the experience gained from building her six sister ships, and sports a luxurious interior styled by Italian designer Cristiano Gatto, and created by expert craftsmen at Heesen Yachts Interiors.
The design for Project Aster celebrates the successful lineage of her foresisters. This was realised by Cristiano who included some of the most defining design elements of her sister ships. These include:
• The silver ceiling from Satori – the first in this class
• Brushed spruce recalls Bannenberg & Rowell designs
• Stainless steel inserts in the cabinetry recalls Omega’s signature design details
Woven leather is a new touch introduced by Cristiano, and one that he developed in close collaboration with leather supplier Foglizzo.
A broad variety of materials and finishes embellish Project Aster’s timeless interior design, which serve to complement her quiet and serene ambience. Though shying away from over- embellishment, an expert eye can spot the richness and the variety of precious details used within. In this elegant design, Cristiano has found perfection in simplicity.
High-end materials and refined features are the calling card of Aster. New and exclusive finishes have been applied to the Foglizzo leather, such as the woven brocade technique – a signature of Coco Chanel’s.
The design of Aster showcases the creative fruits of Cristiano’s five-year collaboration with Heesen. Her interior design has been conceived to emphasise Heesen’s ornate craftsmanship and clever engineering, such as high gloss lacquered wood with complicated inserts in leather, metal, upholstery and wood. This type of intricate detailing is highly complex, and only a shipyard in possession of a fine cabinetry department such as Heesen’s are capable of achieving the desired result.
Thanks to Heesen’s experience acquired from building six yachts in this class, Aster’s interior has been perfectly engineered by the shipyard’s technical office, and the production process optimised. Nothing has been left to the chance, with the smallest of details fine-tuned and all aesthetic and practical points well-conceived over time. From the mounting of panels to the bespoke cabinetry, the execution has been mastered over time, and is now faultless.
Twelve guests will enjoy over 500 square metres of interior space serviced by nine crew. The versatile layout comprises five lower deck suites, and a master stateroom on the main deck forward, making project Aster ideal for both charter and private use.
Project Aster is currently available and is due for delivery in June 2019.
