Heesen Yachts Reinforces Gulf Strategy at Qatar Boat Show and Abu Dhabi Summit
Renowned for its long-term commitment to the Middle East, Heesen Yachts has announced its attendance at the second edition of the Qatar Boat Show, held from November 5 – 8 in the historic Old Doha Port. Since its successful showing in 2024, Heesen has continued to confirm its strategic focus on the Middle East throughout the year, highlighted in the sale of 55-metre Project Agnetha at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. The client for this new-build was introduced by Ian Harris of Dubai-based Phoenix Yacht Management, showcasing the growing influence of the Gulf market and its appreciation for Heesen’s notable craftsmanship.
Owners are increasingly turning to the Middle East as a yachting destination, offering a strategic connection to the Mediterranean as well as the opportunity to explore destinations including the Seychelles and Maldives. Clients in this region are drawn to Heesen’s blend of efficient performance and intelligent layouts, with the shipyard’s designs offering the privacy and comforts typically associated with the region’s yachting lifestyle.
Jeroen van der Meer, CEO of Heesen Yachts, identifies a clear alignment between the shipyard’s offerings and the market’s demands:“The Middle Eastern market is especially attracted to the value and skilled craftsmanship that Heesen offers,” he comments. “Our Series and Smart Custom platforms allow clients to build more efficiently, combining Dutch engineering with faster delivery and exceptional value, an approach that resonates strongly across the region.”
Van Meer has also commented on the evolution of Heesen’s production philosophy, which is set to enhance this efficiency even further: “By integrating advanced automation, we aim to significantly shorten build timelines, reducing the typical four-year process to just one or two, while maintaining the high standards of quality and innovation that our clients expect.”
Reinforcing Heesen’s commitment to the Middle East further, Laurens Last, the shipyard’s new owner, will be a keynote speaker at the seventh edition of the Gulf Superyacht Summit in Abu Dhabi on December 5, and will discuss his strategic direction and vision for the shipyard’s sustained growth. This event has established itself as a key forum for the stakeholders behind the region’s significant fleet, which includes over 20 superyachts exceeding 100 metres.
Hisham Abushakra, Heesen’s Middle East agent, concludes: “The Middle East continues to be a key market for Heesen. The Qatar Boat Show provides an excellent opportunity to connect with clients who value the craftsmanship, innovation, and performance that define every yacht we build.”
Heesen will be welcoming guests and partners at stand YL-09 throughout the Qatar Boat Show.
