Beyond the Horizon: The Crew of Heesen’s Lusine Embark on a 1500km Charity Cycling Challenge

Life aboard a Heesen superyacht is defined by journeys to the world’s most remarkable destinations. For the dedicated crew of the 60-metre motor yacht Lusine, however, the most profound journey this month is a stationary one. The team has launched an ambitious 30-day challenge: to collectively cycle 1,500 kilometres on an indoor spin bike to raise vital funds and awareness for the Children’s Cancer Research Fund.

A group of people in matching white shirts and dark shorts stand on the deck of a large yacht named 'CUSINE', which is docked on the water. A red flag is hoisted at the back of the yacht, and the ocean is visible in the background.

This powerful initiative showcases the spirit of community and compassion that thrives within the yachting world. From the sundeck to the engine room, the international crew of Lusine is united by a shared goal that extends far beyond their daily duties. Using Strava to track every kilometre, they will be sharing their progress in real-time as they pedal towards their target, transforming their vessel into a platform for positive change.

The mission is twofold. Firstly, to generate awareness and solidarity for the pioneering, early-stage research that the Children’s Cancer Research Fund supports. This research is often game-changing, providing the initial “pump-priming” funding that can lead to major breakthroughs in treating childhood cancer. Secondly, the crew’s physical endurance and teamwork mirror the unwavering support and innovation that the Fund represents, demonstrating that every action, no matter how small, contributes to a brighter future for children and their families.

Leading this dedicated team is Captain Alessandro, a respected figure whose career is deeply intertwined with the Heesen fleet. His long-standing experience on our yachts is a testament to the enduring commitment and professionalism we value. This culture of excellence and social responsibility is championed by Lusine’s highly experienced owners, who support this initiative wholeheartedly. It highlights a shared understanding that the privilege of exploring the world comes with a responsibility to contribute positively to it. The Lusine Crew Cycling Challenge is a perfect example of the yachting community giving back.

At Heesen, we are immensely proud of the Lusine crew for channelling their energy and unity into such a worthy cause. Their commitment embodies the very best of the maritime spirit: resilience, teamwork, and a desire to make a positive impact.

We invite the entire Heesen community to follow their journey and support their admirable mission. Every kilometre pedalled and every donation made brings hope to those who need it most.
